What is Transportation Engineering?

Transportation engineering involves most, if not all, systems that move people or goods. These include urban and rural roads and highways, traffic lights, airports, railways, and mass transit. Engineers design asphalt and concrete mixes, highway and railway alignment, traffic light signaling, interchanges, and more. This infrastructure affects everyone on a daily basis and is essential to our way of life.

Camp Goals

Our hope for this camp is that you can gain a greater understanding of Civil Engineering and Transportation Engineering. We come in contact with these disciplines every day whether we try to or not. We have planned activities and field trips that will show you the real world application of transportation engineering.  Through the activities and tours you'll walk away knowing a little more about how the transportation world functions and the important role it plays in our daily lives.

Most importantly, have fun! We'll be spending a good deal of time on the University of Utah campus and hope that you enjoy the experience. Nothing would make us happier than seeing you here in a couple years!
