Graduate Civil & Environmental Admissions

Admissions Requirements
M.S. (Master of Science)
- Thesis Option: 24 graduate coursework credits plus 6 research credits and a thesis defense.
- Non-Thesis Option: 30 graduate coursework credits and a final essay-based comprehensive requirement.
Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy)
- Direct-Admit Ph.D. (from B.S.): Minimum 30 graduate coursework credits plus 14 dissertation research credits.
- Traditional Ph.D. (post-M.S.): Minimum 18 graduate coursework credits plus 14 dissertation research credits.
Required Application Materials
All materials must be submitted through the Graduate School online application portal.

- Statement of purpose
- Resume or CV
- English proficiency documentation (if applicable)

Spring 2027 applications open: August 1, 2026
Fall Semester (August Start)
- December 31, 2026 — 11:59 PM: First consideration for funding
- February 28, 2027 — 11:59 PM: Considered for remaining funding
Spring Semester (January Start)
- August 31, 2026 — 11:59 PM

Funding and Assistantships
- Departmental assistantships are awarded in conjunction with admissions decisions.
- Applicants meeting the first-consideration deadline are reviewed first for funding.
