Representatives from the University of Utah’s nuclear engineering program joined national leaders in advanced nuclear technology, cybersecurity and national security at the 2026 A/SMR Cybersecurity and Operational Resilience Summit.

Held Aug. 19–20 at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley in Park City, Utah, the summit focused on the secure deployment of advanced and small modular reactors. Keynote presentations, panel discussions and technical sessions examined how cybersecurity and operational resilience can be incorporated into reactor design, validation, licensing, supply chains and workforce education.

The University of Utah supported the event as a Silver Sponsor with a $7,500 contribution. Nuclear engineering representatives from the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering also hosted an exhibit table, where they shared information about the University’s academic program, research capabilities and role in preparing the next generation of nuclear engineers.

Participation in the summit gave the department an opportunity to engage with leaders from government, national laboratories and industry while highlighting the University of Utah’s growing contributions to advanced nuclear energy and national security.
