Department Scholarships

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering offers scholarships to all levels of Undergraduate students including freshman and transfer students. This academic year, 2009-2010, the Department offered over $118,000 in scholarships to our undergraduate students . The 2009-2010 Scholarship Application deadline to apply has passed. Check back in December 2009 for the 2010-2011 Scholarship Applications to be available.

URS

URS offers two scholarships & internships to Civil & Environmental Engineering students who are interested in environmental engineering & transportation engineering. The internship would be the summer preceding the academic year the scholarship is offered ($750 fall semester & $750 spring semester) and pays $16/hour. College of Engineering Scholarships

The College of Engineering offers scholarships to freshman, transfer and current engineering students. For the 2009-2010 Academic year Civil & Environmental Engineering students received $32,000 from the college scholarships. A list of all scholarships is on their website and is updated regularly with new scholarships as they come available.

Goldwater Scholarship

Scholarship Details:
• Designed to attract students to careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering.
• Awarded on the basis of merit to students who are sophomores or juniors in the 2009-20 I 0 academic year and who have demonstrated interest in, and potential for, careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering.
• Covers eligible expenses for tuition, fees , books, room and board up to $7,500 per academic year!
• Scholarship recipients who are juniors in 20 10-20 II can expect to receive two years of scholarship support. Recipients who are seniors in 20 I0-20 II are eligible for a maximum of one year of scholarship support.

Intermountain Section of the American Water Works Association

The Intermountain Section of the American Water Works Association is pleased to announce the availability of a scholarship program to support students pursuing studies in the field of water quality, supply, and treatment in the Intermountain West. Scholarships will be available, including two undergraduate scholarships in science or engineering and a scholarship to support an outstanding minority student in the field. Awards will be given in the amounts ranging from $1,000 to $1,500. Every applicant will also be awarded a one year subscription to Journal AWWA and a one year AWWA student membership. A completed application form and all required supporting materials should be received no later than November 2nd, 2009. The application and submission information can be found on the IMS AWWA website at ims-awwa.org. The recipient will be notified and the award sum will be made available by December 1st, 2009. Applying to the University of Utah does not mean that you will get financial aid or scholarships. To receive financial aid University of Utah students must submit a separate application by March 15th for Priority Aid.
