Utah Nuclear Engineering Program (UNEP)
UNEP research includes nuclear reactor modeling and benchmarking using our own TRIGA reactor (one of few left in the country!); nuclear material detection by developing new approaches and methodologies using the state-of-the-art computational platforms; nuclear medicine finding synergistic approaches for cancer treatment; robust computational method developments for GEN IV reactors; radiation shielding analysis for space missions; dosimetric studies; fission track analysis. The UNEP also participates in the US Department of Energy Reactor Sharing Program that enables students and faculty from other universities to use the UNEP faculties. Energy & Geoscience Institute
The Energy & Geoscience Institute (EGI) is a not-for-profit research organization with a 25-year record of conducting multidisciplinary projects world wide. EGI's professional staff of scientists in Salt Lake City and adjunct staff in Houston, Calgary, and London are supplemented by a global network of collaborating scientists and engineers. Utah Traffic Lab
The Utah Traffic Lab (UTL) is a University of Utah Advanced Transportation Systems facility that is associated with the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. The research emphasis of UTL is Adaptive Traffic Signal Control Systems. They are interested in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic Operations Research, and Innovative Transportation Solutions with a focus on application oriented research. UTL uses the latest technology to solve problems, validate and evaluate transportation systems and recommend solutions for technological applications.
