Hello Students, Faculty, Alumni and Friends:
This is an absolutely exciting time, for nuclear engineering profession, for students, parents, alumni, and us, professors and instructors at the U of U. With the great help and support from EnergySolutions, the U is building again the nuclear engineering program. We call it now, the UNEP, the Utah Nuclear Engineering Program!
We are excited to tell you that we have competitive resources and capabilities to grow and build an innovative, different, needed and successful graduate program in nuclear engineering as well as in offering a competitive and unique minor in nuclear engineering.
Our UNEP graduate program offers masters and doctoral degrees. We bring the 21st century nuclear engineering education to place; we know how to do it! Come and work with us: in nuclear reactor modeling and benchmarking using our own TRIGA reactor (one of few left in the country!); in nuclear material detection by developing new approaches and methodologies using the state-of-the-art computational platforms; in nuclear medicine finding synergistic approaches for cancer treatment; in robust computational method developments for GEN IV reactors; in radiation shielding analysis for space missions; and many more. We prepare our graduates for industry, national labs, colleges, universities. All our graduates are involved in the UNEP program development, in writing the proposals, in teaching; all depends on what you are interested in. Opportunities are here, at U!
We will offer for the first time the UNEP minor in 2010! JOIN US! Our program will be unique in meeting the 21st century needs. You will learn exciting topics of interest for general education in nuclear field. We encourage you to take the step forward and look into a future. Future will depend on nuclear profession, in industry, hospitals, national labs and small businesses. Opportunities are here, at U!
